Mindy's Statements

Mindy Pechenuk: "CONCRETE BLOCKS ARE NOT A SOLUTION TO HOMELESSNESS"!

Octobert 11, 2026-I am leading the fight, alongside my dear friends and fellow Oaklanders, to put an end to the inhumane treatment of homeless people in our city.

I have personally visited Oakland’s homeless encampments, including Hawley Street and 75th Avenue. I have seen the eviction notices, the bulldozers, and the massive concrete blocks put in place.

This is not the American solution. This is a failure of leadership and humanity.

Mindy Pechenuk Calls for 30-Day Permit Deadline to Rebuild Oakland

September 23, 2026-

Mayoral candidate Mindy Pechenuk today called for a citywide rule: complete permit applications must be issued in 30 days or less.

Pechenuk said long permitting delays are blocking housing, commercial construction, and neighborhood repairs.

When projects sit in review, jobs are lost, storefronts stay empty, and Oakland cannot rebuild.

"Fife Gimmick is a Democratic Party Dirty Trick"

September 21, 2026- The push by Oakland Councilmember Carroll Fife for an urgent 45-day moratorium on data center approvals is a transparent political gimmick designed to slow or stop AI-related development in our city. In reality, Oakland has already been incorporating AI tools into city operations for years —from chatbots and permitting assistance to internal efficiency measures—with no catastrophic problems

“You do not have to agree with me on everything. You have to agree Oakland cannot keep doing the same failed policies, with the same failed leaders.

Our main business is building people, building ourselves, and those who join us to take on bigger and tougher jobs, building the courage, the faith, the imagination, the will and joy of work. . . I always have to dream up there against the stars”  Henry Kaiser

Pechenuk on Charter Reform: "When Faced With Two Bad Choices, Always Take the Third"

April 15, 2026 - As Oakland’s 2026 mayoral candidate, I strongly endorse the Third Option for Charter Reform to be placed on the November 2026 ballot.

The Third Option strengthens both the Mayor and the City Council, Oakland needs both decisive executive leadership and effective legislative oversight that works together.

Benefits of coal terminal far outweigh drawbacks

July 17, 2026- East Bay Times. Letter to the editor by Hunter Cobb

It’s time to step back. Oakland used to be an industrial city with safe, vibrant, working-class neighborhoods. Irrational hatred of machinery, smokestacks and sweat, plus a perverted banking system that shunned long-term investment, sent us spiraling into hell. Finally, this is turning around nationally. Factories are being built, and trade schools are filling up. Why not here?
